England all-rounder Ben Stokes was voted Professional Cricketers Association player of the year.
That the 28-year-old helped England win the World Cup for the very first time and produced a unbeaten 135 to win the third Ashes Test against Australia this summer.
You take a lot of personal pride when you receive this award as it is your peers who vote for you, he explained.
Earning this award is a massive second and something I am very gracious of.
The Stokes of durham won the award ahead of fellow nominees Simon Harmer of Gloucestershire all-rounder Ryan Higgins Essex and Warwickshire opener Dom Sibley.

While this is an individual award, it is within a team game so I am just in this place because of what other men in our group have achieved as well, said Stokes.
What we have done as a group in 2019 is incredible. To win the World Cup and draw the Ashes was a wonderful summer and something Im proud of and as a group.
20, somerset batsman Tom Banton, has been voted young player of this year. Next month, 549 runs were believed by him and has been called up into the England squad for their five internationals in New Zealand.
Sophie Ecclestone was called the player of this summer, becoming the first player to choose the award having also won in 2018 of the women.
20, Even the left-arm spinner, was England in the Womens Ashes and also the one-day series against West Indies.
