If the blockbuster deal goes through, they’ll have a point guard in Isaiah Thomas who’s coming off a year where he outperformed Kyrie Irving (with a considerable amount) during the regular season.
If the new acquisition’s hip remains problematic, LeBron James is going to be capable of shouldering more responsibilities, while Kevin Love and Jae Crowder staff up to keep the 2016 champions playing in a high degree. Let’s not forget the impact of adding Ante Zizic as depth, either.
If the trade is vetoed because of Thomas’ wellbeing, the Cavaliers will soldier with a malcontent Irving or locate a new taker for the point protector. They’ll stay loaded with talent.
This offseason is going to be deemed a failure if they can’t locate a massive return for Irving–and the Thomas swap certainly qualifies as such–because fixing their biggest difficulty (defense) was not exactly done with the additions of Derrick Rose, Jose Calderon and Jeff Green. But they could score aplomb, which should make them heavy favorites.
James doesn’t appear to have declined whatsoever because his age swells. Love enjoys more chemistry than and Tristan Thompson is advancing. Nearly all of the major pieces fit, however it is 1 although this may be an old roster.
