Wales manager Ryan Giggs has admitted it was a tough decision to include Tom Lawrence in his squad to face Croatia and Slovakia later this month.
Last month, later being involved in an auto crash after with Derby County, lawrence was charged with all drink-driving.
The 25-year-old is due to appear along with club team-mate Mason Bennett, who has also been charged with drink-driving, in Southern Derbyshire Magistrates Court on October 15.
It was a case of speaking to everyone concerned, said Giggs. We have been liaising with Derby and I talked with Philip Cocu to see exactly what their position was. It was not an easy decision.
However, from a football perspective, he performed last night with Derby and that I wanted him involved in the squad. Hes an important player for us.
Before World Cup finalists Croatia see the Cardiff City Stadium on October 13, wales face Slovakia at a Euro 2020 qualifier at Trnava on October 10 – only two weeks before Lawrence is due to appear in court.
Its not going to be easy because he could be considering this, said Giggs. Ill see how hes during the week, observe how he trains and make a decision whether to begin with him or her not in any of those matches .
Central defender Ashley Williams contributes after being left out to last months wins over Belarus and Azerbaijan. Williams was without a club at the time after being published by Everton but has since joined Championship side Bristol City.
If Ash performs then he is the captain, affirmed Giggs. Its very good to get him back. He hadnt had a club so that was why I left him but hes back playing well and enjoying regularly so hes back in.
Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey comes back into the squad after recovering from a hamstring injury, while Gareth Bale along with Daniel James have also been included.
Wales are currently fourth in their eligibility category, having taken six points.
