For the second straight game San Jose and St. Louis fought hard in a one-game purpose with the Blues getting the decision this time about tying the series at two. Now, it’s back to California for game five, in what is currently a best of three series.
Blues vs Sharks Stanley Cup Betting Evaluation On the upgraded Sports Interaction series lineup, the Sharks have been -125 favourites to win the show, together with all the Blues coming in at +105. Digging deeper into the numbers, the Sharks are paying +275 to acquire the series in six games, and +225 to win the series in seven. The Blues are on the books for +275 to win the series in six matches, and +300 to take it in seven, that would mean winning in California at the last game of this series.
Of note, the Blues are 1-4 in their last five games in San Jose, while the under is 4-1-1 in the last six matches played in San Jose between both of these teams.
Furthermore, if you’re thinking about either one of these clubs to knock off the Boston Bruins at the Stanley Cup final there is great value now at Sports Interaction. The Sharks (+320) and Blues (+340) are nicely priced to acquire, but which group will it be?
St. Louis Blues
Goaltender Jordan Binnington has been the front page story in sport four making 29 saves to register yet another playoff success and made some group history in the 2-1 win.
It had been playoff win number 10 for Binnington, moving him past Brian Elliott (2016) and Roman Turek (2001) for the most wins with a Blues goalie at one playoffs year. He is the 10th rookie netminder to win a minimum of 10 games in a single postseason in league history.
The Blues power-play scored for a second straight game (in game four) and that’s a fantastic sign, since the group that had gone 0-for-18 with the man advantage prior to scoring in game .
San Jose Sharks
Game four didn’t start off well for the Sharks, as Ivan Barbashev gave the Blues the lead just 35 seconds into the game.
Tomas Hertl scored the team’s only aim of the game. This was his 10th of this post season, which is the next most goals scored by a play this post season. Team mate Logan Couture contributes with 15.
Paradoxically, Hertl’s goal snapped the Sharks’ scoreless streak of 226 minutes, 48 minutes in Game 4’s that postseason after being closed out in the first two rounds (Vegas/Colorado).
Keep a look out on defenceman Erik Karlsson in this game. In the conclusion of game four Karlsson was in evident distress midway through the third period. He missed a handful of shifts late in regulation time before he managed to come back for the final two minutes, when the Sharks pulled goalie Martin Jones and left one final push.
