William Carson banned for six months

Jockey William Carson was banned after testing positive for a metabolite of cocaine.
However, his suspension was backdated to begin – eight days after the sample obtained Lingfield from him was discovered to contain the banned material benzoylecgonine.
His ban runs to October 4 – and as long he also receives clearance from the health care staff of the British Horseracing Authority and as his riding licence has not expired, he can resume his career next month.
Carson, the 29-year-old grandson of both five-time winner and Classic winner Willie Carson, received confirmation of his punishment at a BHA panel hearing Thursday.
Since April 1 Carson has not ridden without a winner. His biggest success so far came from the 2008 Ayr Gold Cup.
