Liverpool are sweating on the fitness of Andy Robertson for their Champions League group-stage game.
Even the Champions League holders begin the defence of their European Cup title in Naples on Tuesday in the San Paolo Stadium. Additionally are club and side Genk RB Salzburg.
Liverpool left-back Robertson didn’t train with his team-mates before they left on Monday Italy and will probably likely probably be checked by team staff on Tuesday before a decision is taken on his availability for the game.
“Robbo did not train today and we must see,” Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp informed the club website.
“It is not a significant thing, it was more precautionary today, however it isn’t 100 per cent sure [he is going to be available].
“We will need to examine it tomorrow and then we’ll see.”
Liverpool are currently without Divock Origi for its Group E fixture later he suffered a foot injury from the Premier League leaders’ triumph against Newcastle.
But Klopp considers there’s every chance that Origi can return prior to the month’s close to action.
“The upgrade on Div is the fact that it is not overly serious,” he said.
“We anticipate him [to be out for] between one and two weeks, but it depends a little bit on if he can take care of the pain.
“It is nothing actually; it’s a feeling, but it needs to be OK.”
