Liverpool are sweating on the fitness of Andy Robertson because of their Champions League game with Napoli.
Even the Champions League holders begin the defence of their sixth European Cup title in Naples on Tuesday at the San Paolo Stadium. In Group E are Belgian side Genk and Austrian club RB Salzburg.
Liverpool left-back Robertson didn’t train with his team-mates before they left on Monday Italy and will probably likely probably be checked by club medical staff on Tuesday prior to a decision is taken on his accessibility for the game.
“Robbo didn’t train today and we have to find out,” Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp told the club website.
“It isn’t a major thing, it was more precautionary today, however it isn’t 100 percent sure [he will be accessible ].
“We might have to examine it tomorrow and then we will see.”
Liverpool are already without Divock Origi for its Group E fixture after he suffered a foot injury from the Premier League leaders’ 3-1 triumph against Newcastle.
However, Klopp considers there’s every possibility that Origi could return prior to the end of the month to action.
“The upgrade on Div is that it is not too severe,” he explained.
“We anticipate him [to be outside for] between one and fourteen days, but it depends a bit on if he can deal with the pain.
“It is nothing really; it’s a feeling, but it ought to be fine.”
