After being knocked unconscious after a 26, pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph was helped off the field during Sundays loss to the visiting Baltimore Ravens.
At 7:26 of the quarter in Heinz Field, Rudolph scrambled to his left and also completed a pass to James Washington, subsequently was sandwiched by Ravens defenders Brandon Carr from behind and Earl Thomas in the front.
It appeared Thomas hit Rudolph high, in his chin or face region. Thomas obtained a penalty for roughing the passer.
Rudolph seemed to lose consciousness in the hit, falling to the turf with no hammering himself hitting his head to the floor.
As the training staff and team-mates crowded around him he remained motionless for many moments.
Trainers pulled a cart along with stretcher out and removed the facemask of Rudolphs helmet, as he walked off the area, but was used.
Even the Steelers reported Rudolph had a concussion and wouldnt go back to the match. He had been initially assessed at Heinz Field moved to a hospital.
ESPNs Adam Schefter reported that Rudolph was allowed to go home. Hell be in the concussion protocol of the NFL.
Rudolph, that has been playing since Ben Roethlisberger had season-ending elbow surgery, was substituted by Devlin Hodges.
Rudolph had been 13 of 20 for 131 yards and a touchdown before getting hurt. Since the Ravens prevailed 26-23 in overtime, hodges went 9 for 68 yards in relief.
The Ravens lost a set of key starters. Safety Tony Jefferson was taken off the field to a cart due to a knee injury, and tight end Mark Andrews abandoned after being tackled near his own goal line.
Jefferson acquired hurt while attracting down Pittsburgh tight end Nick Vannett. He was mastered doubtful and did not return.
Andrews harm was unclear, the last couple of weeks, though he has been fighting with a foot injury. He returned in the fourth quarter.
