Michael Cheika was upset by questions regarding his potential as Australias head coach after the World Cup defeat to England and asked fora little bit of empathy.
The Wallabies boss was speaking shortly after his side lost to England in their quarter-final battle in Oita by a record-equalling perimeter of 40-16.
Cheikas encounter since was a one after taking Australia to the final at 2015. His potential head coach is still unknown and the topic dismayed him, once the question has been put to him regarding what happens next.
Im being fair, its a cruel world when you are being asked those questions two minutes after weve been knocked from a World Cup, Cheika stated throughout his post-match media conference in Japan.
And, in case you would find it in you to find a bit of compassion for individuals who are hurting to only ask the further pertinent questions.
For me, I arrived here with just 1 idea in my mind about winning and that thought has only disappeared today, not 15 or 20 seconds past.
I understand that thats what the papers demand, but perhaps whatever the news outlet would be, consider peoples feelings for a moment. Just chill
After being just in the second half , the 23 unanswered points of England abandoned the Wallabies looking.
Theyve clearly got a particular way that they play the game and I believed that we took a fair bit of their kick out of the game, Cheika added.
They werent able to box-kick and pressure as much on us. I believed that we handled that part but where they were very great was defence.
We had our chance once we took that scrum down beneath the goal posts, that was the opportunity to score. That instant was maintained by A key moment at the World Cup and England.
They were deserved winners and theyll be a handful entering the remaining portion of the tournament.
That there was one question put to Cheika, again onto his prospective future as head coach before the press conference was concluded.
Even though it was prefaced withI loved that the time-frame, it had been pointed out that Cheika had said if Australia failed to win at the World Cup, he wouldnt seek re-appointment.
Cheika was firm with his response.
If you appreciate the time-frame, then why ask the question? Well, when the moment comes, Ill tell them…
They do not need to know today, it is not going to kill them. Sweet?
