Lionel Messi admitted that he does not think Barcelona did”all they could” to attract Neymar back to Spain from Paris Saint-Germain summer time.
Neymar was the topic of a few of the longest-running transport sagas of the summer, later leaving to get a fee using the Brazilian looking place to go back two years.
However, Sky Sports News reported two months ago that PSG’s unwillingness to reduce their evaluation, despite Neymar’s offer to cover #17.7m ($20m) towards procuring a deal, guaranteed the move failed to materialise.
Messi, who formed an attacking triumvirate that was exhilarating at Barcelona with Luis and Neymar Suarez, would have liked to have witnessed the trio join more.
“I’d have liked for Neymar to get returned,” Messi told Spanish book Sport. “Honestly, I am not sure if Barca did whatever they could to sign him but I know it’s tough to negotiate with PSG.
“I’m not disappointed. We’ve got a squad that may challenge for all, even without Ney.
“Neymar is among the very best on the planet. With his patrons and level, it would have been a big gain for the team .”
Messi is under contract before 2021 at Barca but has a clause inserted in his deal that could see him leave the Nou Camp for nothing in the close of the season.
On the other hand, the club have reiterated that they stay confident their inspirational captain will stay beyond the summertime, and Messi himself confirmed he doesn’t have plans to find pastures new.
“Barcelona is my house and I really don’t need to leave,” Messi added. “But I want to acquire. I want to win the Champions League, it’s been a long time since we won it.”
