Chris Eubank Jr has accused Billy Joe Saunders of preventing him – but warns he will”get what’s coming” if they finally share a ring.
A rematch between the two Brits – who fought recently at super middleweight – was mooted because their battle in November 2014.
Saunders won that struggle at London but Eubank Jr insists that he will have his revenge.
He told Sky Sports News:”We’ve been attempting to make that fight for years. It happens, it happens.
“He is not really a priority for me because there’s so many other big names out there. But if that battle happens, he’ll get what’s coming, and I will be able to proceed.”
Asked whether he felt Saunders was avoiding him, or if the rematch hasn’t yet been arranged because of contractual reasons, Eubank Jr said:”The two.
“He doesn’t need to fight unless he’s getting paid a crazy sum of money. But in this stage, the struggle could be manufactured; it is only where and when.”
While he’s unsure if he’ll find another shot Eubank – who won the IBO name when beating James DeGale at February – says his next battle will soon be announced.
“I haven’t been as busy as I needed to be this year,” the 29-year-old recognized. “I said I wished to fight three times this year and I’ve only fought after.
“I will certainly be fighting before this year’s out. It will be within the next couple of months and there’ll be a statement within the next few months on the opponent and place.”
Eubank Jr provided his ideas about the rematch between Anthony Joshua along with Andy Ruiz Jr, that takes place on December 7 in Saudi Arabia, live on Sky Sports Box Office.
The 29-year-old believes Joshua can comfortably avenge his defeat to Ruiz Jr – the first of his pro career – as long as he plans the struggle with all the best”mindset”.
“AJ is a champion,” Eubank Jr.”I believe if he goes there with the right mindset, then he can do the company easily. He didn’t have the ideal mindset to do it in the first fight.
“I believe he possibly underestimated him as we all did, particularly when you’re fighting a man that doesn’t resemble a fighter.
“But he underestimated himhe paid the price tag, and now I’m sure he’s going to be battling like his life is dependent upon it.
“He needs his straps back. He has worked so hard to achieve what he is achieved – I really don’t think he will enable Ruiz to upset him again.”
